Get help and advice before you lose your home

Emergency assistance

If you are at risk of losing your home or have nowhere to stay we can help you by talking to you about your options for housing.  This may include a homeless assessment.  At this interview, we can also help you find emergency housing if you need it.

If you need emergency housing because you have no place to go you can drop in during working hours or make an appointment to speak to someone at:

  • the Housing Options Team at 1 Cockburn Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1BJ or 0131 529 7368
  • The Access Point (housing, Social Work and health assistance) at 23 Leith Street, Edinburgh, EH1 3AT or 0131 529 7438.
  • any of our neighbourhood offices

If you need emergency housing after working hours call our out of hours service of Freephone 0800 032 5968.

You can also visit the Housing Options Guide to find out about your housing options in Edinburgh or get housing advice online by emailing the Housing Advice Team

If you are afraid you might be losing your home because of personal or financial problems you can contact the Neighbourhood Support Service for support to help you stay in your home. Throughout Edinburgh there are also various housing advice and support agencies  who can provide you with help and advice.  These include Edinburgh Housing Advice Partnership (EHAP) and Cyrenians Homeless Prevention Service.
