Getting advice about housing options

Housing options interview

If you are at risk of losing your home or have nowhere to stay we can help you by talking to you about your housing options. This can include carrying out a homeless assessment and helping you to find emergency housing if you need it.

Housing options interviews and homeless assessments are carried out by appointment or through a drop in service at any of the Housing Options Team based at 1 Cockburn Street , The Access Point and at any of the neighbourhood offices.

These interviews can be used to:

  • give you advice about you housing options
  • if you are homeless, to allow a homeless assessment to be carried out and to determine if you are in priority need
  • find temporary accommodation for you and help you to store your belongings or kennel you pets if needed
  • offer you specialist outreach services if you are being discharged from hospital or prison or are a young person
  • provide you with links to housing advice and support agencies in the city.

If your home has become unsuitable due of illness or disability, we can also help you to find alternative solutions like personal or home alarms. This is available for all tenants and homeowners. We can also advise and assess Council tenants to find help if their housing is no longer suitable.
