The Festival of Scottish Writing 14 May - 29 May 2005
Adult Events ¦ Children's Events ¦ Reader's Day ¦ Competitions |
Welcome
to Edinburgh City Libraries and Information Service’s annual Festival
of Scottish Writing – now in its fifth year. Each year our programme expands to greet the continual creativity of all Scotland’s writers, hosting a huge variety of events to suit all tastes and ages. Listen to local writers, explore the dramatic and poetic forms that shape our heritage, enter other worlds through the page. From poetry to sci fi, from ‘flash-fiction’ to the romance of Scottish History, our events are guaranteed to grip your imagination. Take part in workshops, laugh with your children, walk out on tours around the city.
Denmark has also something to shout about- the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hans Christian Andersen, one of the world’s most loved storytellers. Edinburgh, UNESCO City of Literature, joins with a range of other organisations to commemorate his birth. Listen to Scandinavian tales with Marion Kenny, Old Norse tales with Audrey Parks, and why not write a tale yourself? Enter our ‘Teens tell Tales’ competition and get into print with a prize.
Finally, following the success of last year’s first ever Reader’s Day, Joy Hendry chairs a panel of local authors on Saturday 28th May at McDonald Road Library, inviting avid readers to share their experiences of reading with the team. Book Group members especially welcome!
