School Nether Currie Primary School
Proposal There will not be enough space for all children living in the area at Currie Primary without it being extended further.

Pupils from the Kinleith Mill area of Currie Primary’s catchment area would move to Nether Currie Primary for August 2019.

The area of Currie Primary’s catchment around Heriot Watt University would be changed to Nether Currie Primary from August 2019

Nether Currie, along with Juniper Green, Canal View and Clovenstone Primary, catchment areas would feed to the new South West Edinburgh School when it opens in August 2022.
Who is affected No current Nether Currie Primary pupils would be transferred to another school.

From August 2019, new P1 pupils living in the Kinleith Mills area of Currie Primary’s existing catchment would go to Nether Currie Primary.

Pupils currently in P1 to P3 or in nursery and living in the Nether Currie Primary catchment area would go to a new South West Edinburgh High when they reach S1.

Pupils currently in P4 to P7 and living in the Nether Currie Primary catchment area would continue to attend Currie High when they reach S1 and would move to the new South West Edinburgh High when it opens in 2022.
Reasons for the proposal There is not enough space for pupils at Currie Primary.

Currie Primary can be expanded further - we have planned a second phase to create four more classrooms - but pressure on supporting accommodation means the school community do not want to do this.

Nether Currie Primary can provide places for pupils from the Kinleith Mill development.
