The Voluntary Ranger Service has operated in the
Pentland Hills Regional Park since 1997 and continues to make
an excellent contribution to the work of the Regional Park.
Voluntary Rangers are individuals
from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. They receive intensive
training and to enable them to assist in the delivery of park
services.

The Pentland Hills Voluntary Ranger Service aims to: E nhance the work of the Regional Park in caring for the hills, Communicate the work of the PHRP and encourage people to think positively and act responsibly toward the Pentland Hills and help people understand and enjoy the hills in safety.
Recruitment takes place annually or as places become available.
An intensive training course
and probationary period ensures volunteers are equipped with the
knowledge, skills and confidence to patrol the hills and advise
visitors.
