Dedicated staff help ensure that your visit to the Pentland Hills is safe, responsible and enjoyable. The park is also managed by Joint Committee .

Gwen Stewart, Senior Support Assistant
Gwen has been with the Regional Park since 1992 undertaking all aspects of Park administration. She enjoys providing a frontline service to the public and when she’s finished that goes out walking, cycling and swimming.

Susan Falconer - Senior Countryside Ranger
Susan has been Senior Ranger since 1998. Besides managing the Ranger team she has a particular interest in wildlife and involving people in the outdoors. Outside of work Susan enjoys climbing mountains, cycling, running and canoeing. She is also author of “The Pentland Hills - A Walkers Guide.”

Paula Bell, Countryside Ranger
Paula is the newest member of the ranger service, starting at the end of April 2008. She joins us from Stirling Council where she was an area countryside ranger. Paula is responsible for the two Visitor Centres, the interpretation panels throughout the park, the production of leaflets and our quarterly newsletter, the Pentland Beacon.
In her spare time Paula volunteers at an animal shelter, loves carrying out surveys on mammals, and listening to live music.

Jo Booth - Countryside Ranger
Jo enjoys her remit as Community Ranger and is happy to create an interesting and enjoyable visit for your group. Groups have the opportunity for team working, creativity, gaining confidence and expanding their own personal boundaries . In her spare time Jo enjoys many outdoor activities from walking, mountain biking and rock climbing and is out and about as much as possible. She also likes to read and does yoga to relax.

Martin Duncan - Countryside Ranger
Martin joined the team in November 2004. He joins us with a wealth of experience in practical conservation tasks and woodland management.

Since graduating from Edinburgh University in 1996, he has worked in various parts of Scotland as well as British Columbia, Canada. This move brings him full circle back to Edinburgh. In his spare time, Martin likes to tackle the higher peaks in Scotland and also plays the fiddle and bagpipes.

Nigel Franklin - Countryside Ranger
Nigel joined the Ranger team moving from Hopetoun House, South Queensferry. Coming into rangering in 2001, as a 2nd career, Nigel was previously in the Army.
As a Ranger he likes to share his love of the countryside with as wide a cross section of people. In his spare time he enjoys hill walking with his pet dog and an avid sports fan, especially football.

Victor Partridge - Countryside Ranger
Victor has worked in the Regional Park since 1994. He has wide-ranging interests including interpretation, education, natural history and geology.
When not working he enjoys walking in the countryside, landscape photography and playing in a brass band. Some of Victor’s excellent photographs are published on our website.
