DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORKS AND STRATEGIES

There are a number of Development Frameworks and Strategies for the City of Edinburgh. These are as follows:

City Centre Strategy - a comprehensive examination of the city centre.

Craigmillar - The Framework was approved at Planning Committee on 29th September 2005 and forms supplementary planning guidance. It sets out a vision and planning principles for the development of the Craigmillar area.

Granton - Granton Waterfront is an extensive tract of land between West Granton Road and the Firth of Forth currently being developed for a new urban quarter.

Leith Docks Development Framework - prepared by Forth Ports plc and the Council, this sets out a long-term vision and framework for the phased redevelopment of Leith docks.

South East Wedge - Identified in the 1994 Structure Plan as a growth area for the city.

West Edinburgh Planning Framework - prepared by the Scottish Executive, the Council and Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian in response to very significant transport, development and environmental issues facing West Edinburgh.
