This video shows the Turner Prize-nominated artist igniting his sculpture of the Devil's head and explaining the rationale behind the performance, which took place to mark the start of the 2011 Edinburgh Art Festival.
The burning of the sculpture, which took three months to create using thousands of brightly-coloured live matches, was part of the Fife-born artist's Precious Light blockbuster exhibition at the City Art Centre.

David Mach Precious Light: A Celebration of the King James Bible 1611-2011 opened on 30 July and has been generating rave reviews from critics and gallery-goers alike.
The explosive exhibition covers five floors of the City Art Centre in Market Street. Over three years in the making, Precious Light explores the themes and legacy of the King James Bible in the year of its 400th anniversary.
The Turner Prize-nominated artist's largest solo show to date, it features more than 70 of his trademark collages and large-scale sculptures composed of thousands of mass produced objects such as coathangers and live matches.
The exhibition is open daily at the City Art Centre until 16 October 2011.
