Nominations open for Muirhouse Salvesen Community Council

Muirhouse Salvesen Community Council is seeking nominations to fill vacancies for seven elected members.

People interested in representing their local community are invited to fill out a nomination form by 30 March.

Community council members can make a difference by commenting on licensing and planning applications, taking part in community campaigns and working with others to improve the local area.

Councillor Maureen Child, Convener of the Communities and Neighbourhoods Committee, said: “I would encourage anyone interested in playing a part in the Muirhouse and Salvesen area to consider signing up to the community council.

“As well as a way for residents to make their opinions heard to the Council and other organisations, it’s a great opportunity for meeting new people and getting involved in local matters.”

Community Councils are represented on each of the 12 Neighbourhood Partnerships established across the city. The Council, police, health, and the voluntary and community sectors are all working together within the partnerships to enhance the quality of life in local neighborhoods.

Nominations for membership open on 7 March and close on 30 March.  If there are more candidates than places, an election will be held on 25 April 2016.

Those interested in representing their community and having a say on issues affecting their area should contact 529 3281 for a nomination form or visit the Council website.
