Traffic update: A71 works planned

People travelling in and out of Edinburgh from the west of the city are advised to take note of work planned on the A71 between Hatton Mains and Addiston Farm Road.

Essential works to replace a masonry culvert will begin during the week commencing Monday, 7 March and are expected to last approximately eight weeks.

During this period, two-way traffic will be reduced to one lane, controlled by temporary traffic lights. The speed limit will also be lowered to 30mph from the existing 50mph for the duration.

Transport Convener, Councillor Lesley Hinds, said: “This work will allow us to carry out essential repairs to infrastructure and is being carried out on a seven-day-a-week basis to minimise disruption. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to commuters and anyone else delayed by the works.”
