Edinburgh named the best place to live

The Council Leader welcomes research from MoneySupermarket released today (Friday 13 November).

Less than a month after topping a 'Quality of Life Index' by Uswitch and just days after receiving European recognition for fine parks and green spaces at the Eurocities awards, Edinburgh has been revealed as the best place to live in the UK.

Research by MoneySupermarket has named Scotland’s capital as the UK’s home of high life satisfaction, high employment and healthy disposable incomes.

Responding to the news, Council Leader Andrew Burns said: "Yet again, Edinburgh has been recognised as a fantastic place to live. This is thanks in no small measure to the sheer beauty and heritage of the city but is also a response to the city’s ever-growing educational, job and leisure opportunities.

"Edinburgh boasts the world’s largest festival of the arts, fantastic Christmas markets and attractions and it is the home of Hogmanay. No matter what time of year it is, Edinburgh is a great place to be.”
