Record year for the city’s Jazz & Blues Festival

Ticketed attendances at the 2015 Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival exceeded 36,000, a 20 per cent increase over 2014. Sales also hit record levels, up 13 per cent from last year, and over £600,000 for the first time.

Councillor Richard Lewis, the City of Edinburgh Council’s Festivals and Events Champion, said: “The Festival has been a fixture on the Capital’s calendar for 37 years now and it’s fantastic to see it continue to grow and grow.

"This year’s programme showcased first-class musicianship and I was personally delighted to experience such diverse acts David Patrick’s ‘jazzed up’ Stravinsky, the legendary Willie ‘The Touch’ Hayes Band, and even the sounds of Frank Sinatra.

"The ticket figures are great news for the festival, the performers but also our local venues.”

The City of Edinburgh Council supports the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival through funding of the Festival Carnival and Mardi Gras. This year, these free events welcomed 30,000 people.
