Primary pupils making a splash for free this half term

A half-term scheme funded by City of Edinburgh Council is offering children an active way to pass the time during the holidays this February.

Primary pupils will be able to make a splash with free swimming sessions at four of Edinburgh Leisure’s pools across the city, as well as Wester Hailes Education Centre.

The offer, running until Sunday 23rd February, is available at Dalry Swim Centre, Gracemount Leisure Centre, Leith Victoria Swim Centre and Ainslie Park Leisure Centre.

All primary school children with an accompanying paying adult can attend the free sessions, which are part of a £125,000 investment by the Council to get more children and families active.

Other initiatives involved in the programme include top-up swimming for p2-3 pupils and free family splash time sessions.

Councillor Richard Lewis, the city’s Culture and Sport Convener, said: “Swimming is not only fun for children but a great way to keep fit and stay healthy. Free swimming sessions over the half term break are fantastic for families and will also encourage new swimmers.”

Free swimming sessions will take place between 12 and 4pm across the five participating venues. For more information on specific time slots visit Edinburgh Leisure’s website.
