Edinburgh gets set for the ultimate holiday pampering session

This is Edinburgh brings you Spa in the City from 23-31 May 2015.

Edinburgh’s leading free beauty event, Spa in the City, is back and it’s bigger than ever. The city’s top beauty and spa experts are uniting to get residents ready for summer, offering over 1,000 free treatments, tutorials and make-overs, across two packed weekends at St Andrew Square (23-24 May) and the West End (30-31 May).   

Themed ‘Holiday Countdown’, Spa in the City 2015 will see St Andrew Square and the West End, outside The Huxley, transformed into a tranquil urban spa and ensure every woman, and man, feel beach ready this summer.

Supported by a wide range of retailers including Jenners, John Lewis, Boots, Harvey Nichols, Crabtree & Evelyn and Superdrug, experts representing over 25 brands such as Liz Earle, Benefit, Sisley and Aveda, will be on hand to offer the latest on-trend treatments and advice.

Free, bookable Spa in the City appointments to watch out for include, a Sassoon Salon blow and style service, a Decleor’s mini-facial and a No7’s Match Made foundation and lips service. Or, for those with a more hands on approach to their beauty regime, Lush Spa and Neal’s Yard Remedies will even let shoppers have a go making their own organic products.

Packed with informative demonstrations and workshops, a brand new drop-in ‘beauty heroes’ marquee at St Andrew Square for the opening weekend, will be the perfect place for visitors to await their next appointment. Hosted by some of Edinburgh’s leading beauty experts, these free to attend sessions will cover everything from the art of make-up contouring by B.Makeup to botox and filler demos by Beyond MediSpa and easy beach-up dos from Toni & Guy. 

Event attendees will receive an offer-book full of exclusive discounts from participating retailers and surrounding restaurants and bars, providing the chance to make a day of it with a bite to eat or a post treatment cocktail. Providing the perfect excuse to arrive early; 800 of the much coveted Spa in the City goodie bags will be distributed to the first attendees across both weekends at each location.

Watch out for Element cocktail masterclasses and live music from LUNIR at St Andrew Square and delicious food and drink on offer from The Huxley at the West End event.

Brought to the city centre as part of the This is Edinburgh campaign, Spa in the City likewise aims to attract residents and those living within a two-hour travel radius into the city centre, to enjoy Edinburgh’s wide selection of shops, bars and restaurants.

Launched one year ago, ‘This is Edinburgh’ is designed to attract families and shoppers back into the city centre of Edinburgh and is targeted at residents of Edinburgh and people who live within a two-hour drive time of Scotland’s capital. 

A partnership jointly funded by City of Edinburgh Council, Marketing Edinburgh and Essential Edinburgh, ‘This is Edinburgh’ aims to increase footfall to the centre by two per cent above the national average. Running for the next two years, it is projected that the £1 million campaign will stimulate an additional £50 million spend within the city centre over that time.
