Council’s procurement team wins top industry award

The City of Edinburgh Council’s Procurement service has been recognised as an example of best practice by the world’s only professional accountancy body to specialise in public services.

The team was awarded the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) 2015 award for innovation, improvement and best practice last night (Sunday 29 March) for its Commercial Excellence programme.

Service manager, Nick Smith, welcomed the team’s success. He said: “This is fantastic news for the Council’s Commercial & Procurement Services and the award recognises the hard work of many staff members who constantly seek to improve and deliver this important function of the Council. The work of this service area is a key part of the Council’s overall strategy.”

The CIPFA awards recognise excellence in public finance and accountancy, and the award for best practice is widely regarded as a top industry accolade.
