Avoid traffic delays around Celtic vs Reykjavík match

More than 30,000 football fans are expected to descend upon Edinburgh for Celtic’s match against Reykjavík at Murrayfield tonight.

The Glasgow team will be playing the Icelandic side here as Celtic Park hosts the Glasgow 2014 opening ceremony this evening.

Those travelling to or near the stadium are being advised to plan ahead to avoid traffic delays.

A series of road closures and restrictions will be put in place to cope with crowds travelling into and from the city.

The restrictions, which will take effect at various times between 4pm and 10pm, will include the closure of Roseburn Street and Russell Road and, from 9.15pm to 10.30pm, the closure of Roseburn Terrace, Corstorphine Road east bound from its junction with Ellersly Road and Murrayfield Road, between Ellersly Road and Corstorphine Road.

Loading restrictions will also be put in place in the surrounding area between 4pm and 10.30pm.

A full list of streets and roads affected is available on the Council website and live updates can be found by following @edintravel on Twitter.
