Planning Committee votes in favour of Lawrie Reilly Place

Members of the Council's Planning Committee today voted to name a new street in Lochend after Hibs legend Lawrie Reilly.

They also voted to review the current street naming policy in place at the Council.

Cllr Ian Perry, Convener of the Planning Committee, said: “We took this decision in recognition of Lawrie Reilly’s sporting achievements for Edinburgh and Scotland. We have asked officers to review our street naming policy to ensure that we have enough flexibility to recognise the contribution made by important national and international figures.”

Full details of the coalition motion, as voted for this morning by the Planning Committee:

1. In recognition of Lawrie Reilly’s sporting achievements for Edinburgh and Scotland, the Committee agrees to name the street Lawrie Reilly Place;

2. To further agree that the Acting Head of Planning and Building Standards reviews the Statutory Addressing Charter and naming guidelines and report back to the next Planning Committee meeting.
