Postal voters set to receive European Election packs this weekend

Edinburgh residents wishing to vote in the European Elections by post will begin receiving their postal packs this Saturday.

Packs, which are being sent to requested addresses tomorrow (Friday), will include a ballot paper, postal voting statement and return envelopes.

Voters can still register to vote by post, or make changes to existing postal votes, until 5pm on Wednesday 7 May, though in this case will not receive their postal voting packs until 13 May.

Those who plan to vote by post must ensure their ballot paper is sent in time to arrive with the Returning Officer by 22 May.

The European Elections will be held in all 28 member states of the European Union, with Edinburgh residents voting to elect six members of the European Parliament to the Electoral Region of Scotland on 22 May.

Nominated candidates for Scotland’s six MEPs are available on the Council’s website, where details on polling places can also be accessed.

Citizens wishing to vote in person must register by 6 May. Registering to vote in person or by post can be done by filling out an application form, which can be found on the Lothian Valuation Joint Board website, or by telephoning the Lothian Valuation Joint Board 0131 344 2500.
