Vintage visitors create a spectacle in Edinburgh

Car enthusiasts were given a treat today as Edinburgh hosted vintage visitors from the Netherlands.

The Citroen car rally added great excitement to the already vibrant festival atmosphere as dozens of cars drove through Edinburgh's Old Town to reach the Grassmarket.

Deidre Brock, Deputy Lord Provost, said: " Edinburgh offers a magnificent setting and the vintage Citroen cars created quite a stir as they made their way to the Grassmarket. Today's spectacle was a great bonus for the crowds of visitors already enjoying our city's world famous festival season."

The participants are members of PATAN, a union of owners of Citroen cars from 1919 - 1934. They are rallying 700 miles from Newcastle , Gretna Green, Peebles, Edinburgh , Glennkinchie, Alnwick Castle , Morpeth, Port of Tyne then back to Netherlands by ferry.
