The City of Edinburgh Arts Award

The Arts & Business Scotland Awards winners were announced at a prestigious ceremony at the Assembly Rooms on Wednesday night.

Special individual awards included the City of Edinburgh Arts Award, sponsored by the City of Edinburgh Council. This was won by Jonathan Mills, Director and Chief Executive of the Edinburgh International Festival.

EIF Managing Director, Joanna Baker (pictured below, centre), received the award from Cllr Richard Lewis (right), on Jonathan's behalf.

Speaking at the Awards, Cllr Lewis said: "I couldn't think of a more fitting venue for tonight's awards than the newly-refurbished and quite magnificent Assembly Rooms or of a more fitting a recipient of the City of Edinburgh Arts Award than Jonathan Mills.

"Since following in the considerable footsteps of Sir Brian McMaster back in 2006, Jonathan's energy, enthusiasm, imagination and sheer hard work have brought this city a further seven marvellous festivals, with another to follow next year before he steps down, I'm sure.

"I wish the EIF every success in their search for his replacement. He'll be a tough act to follow."
