Insulation cash boost for Edinburgh homes

The City of Edinburgh Council's housing leader has welcomed extra funding for the Universal Home Insulation Scheme (UHIS).

Under the Scottish Government extension to the scheme Edinburgh will receive just over £1m to help households with loft and cavity wall insulation.

Councillor Cammy Day said: "This extra investment is great news as UHIS has proved to be very successful in Edinburgh with thousands of homes already benefiting from it. I'm delighted that around a further 1,600 households will be helped by this cash injection.

"With the recent gas and electricity price increases the extension of this scheme is going to help even more households in the capital reduce energy consumption and tackle fuel poverty. Homeowners should see a reduction in their energy bills and also ensure their homes are warmer when they most need it."
