Letter issued to Metro newspaper on Tram bylaws

Transport Convener Lesley Hinds had sent a letter to the Metro to stress the importance of having effective bylaws for the tram service.

Effective bylaws are an essential part of a smooth running, high quality public transport service. They are designed to protect the safety and comfort of passengers and it's very important that they do this in a fair and sensible way. In developing ours, we've looked closely at existing bylaws used by Manchester's tram service and other UK operators. However, the most important thing is that the bylaws work for Edinburgh so we've been in touch with local emergency services and Lothian Buses who have contributed to the development of ours. The bylaws are now out for public consultation and we plan to have them finalised in March next year.
