Council serves Improvement Notice on National Museum of Scotland
The City of Edinburgh Council has served an Improvement Notice on the National Museum of Scotland as part of the ongoing Legionella investigation.
It requires that the National
Museum of Scotland ensure that key staff
members are appropriately trained in the management of water systems, which
includes overseeing the ongoing monitoring and maintenance regime undertaken by
specialist contractors. The notice, which was served
yesterday, can be appealed by the company within the next 21 days. The Improvement Notice does not mean the
National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street has been identified as the source
of the outbreak. Additional information: Improvement Notices are
subject to a 21-day appeal period and this should be made clear in any media
reporting. The City of Edinburgh Council is a member of
the Incident Management Team (IMT), set up to investigate the Legionnaires'
disease outbreak in Edinburgh. They are currently inspecting relevant premises
within the city, working with the Health and Safety Executive.
