Council welcomes Edinburgh Airport's fund announcement to help bring new air routes to the city

Cllr Frank Ross, Convener of the Economy Committee, said: "I welcome this news which recognises the importance of tourism and the need to continually boost visitor numbers in the city. It builds on significant recent developments in the public and private sectors such as our investment in an extension for the EICC and new hotels coming to Edinburgh such as Motel One on Market Street and the Tune Hotel at Haymarket."

Hugh Rutherford, Chair of the Edinburgh Business Forum, said: "I am delighted with today's news which will provide a welcome jobs boost for the local economy. Attracting new routes into Edinburgh fits well with the Council's Strategy for Jobs and will bring a great boost for local businesses and inward investment."
