Councillor Hinds welcomes SEPA flood alert initiative

Environment Convener, Councillor Lesley Hinds today welcomed SEPA's new text alert system to notify residents when their homes are at risk of flooding.

She said: "This is a great initiative that will help to quickly inform people if there is a risk of coastal flooding in their local area.

"I would encourage people in areas of the city such as Granton, Leith and Portobello to take advantage of this new service and sign up for advance notices from Floodline."

The initiative will help residents to be prepared and give them more time to protect their homes in the event of a flood. Advice on how best to do this is also available here.
