Early years conference kicks off

The City of Edinburgh Council is running its 11th Early Years Conference on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 February 2013.

The conference, which will take place at Easter Road Stadium, brings together over 150 delegates from all sections of early years education will focus on achievement for all.

The keynote speaker is Dr Margot Sunderland, Director of Education and Training at The Centre for Child Mental Health London.  A variety of seminars will take place on a variety of curriculum areas including health and wellbeing, literacy and supporting children with challenging or troubled behaviour.

Councillor Paul Godzik, Education, Children and Families Convener said, "We are committed to providing every child in Edinburgh with the best start in life.  In addition to this we want to give them a wide and varied educational experience and by training our staff regularly we are in a position to deliver up-to-date best practice. I know many of our staff value the learning opportunities at this annual conference and are very much looking forward to it."
