Advice for rugby fans in Edinburgh this weekend

Rugby fans heading to watch Scotland in the 2013 RBS Six Nations this weekend are being advised to take note of traffic and travel information.

Scotland play host to Ireland on Sunday 24 February (kick-off 2pm) and 67,000 spectators are expected to flock to Murrayfield Stadium for the match.

The Council is working closely with Lothian and Borders Police and British Transport Police to keep road and pedestrian traffic moving smoothly before and after the game.

A number of temporary diversions and parking restrictions will be in place, with Police and stewards on hand to help direct members of the public from the Stadium to the city centre.

Motorists should also expect delays on Gorgie Road on Sunday when roadworks are taking place at the junction with Balgreen Road.

This will mean the road will be reduced to one lane westbound and will affect traffic leaving Murrayfield after the game.

Police advice is that motorists should avoid this route in anticipation of heavy congestion.
