Event helps residents live well in later life

A successful information day was held in West Edinburgh this week to raise awareness about the wide range of services available to older people throughout the city.

The Live Well in Later Life event took place in St Ninian’s Church Hall, Corstorphine. It showcased the many activities and support services on offer to older people and provided a taster of some of these activities, including indoor lawn bowls and a seated exercise class.

The aim was to raise awareness of some of the issues affecting older people and their carers, such as personal safety, social isolation and the importance of staying active.

Information was also made available to those interested in volunteering for organisations that assist people in later life.

A number of organisations were represented, including Care and Repair, NHS Lothian, Edinburgh Leisure, Police Scotland, Citizens Advice and Third Age Computer Fun. Edinburgh Community Food provided a free lunch for participants and a number of drop-in exhibitions were available throughout the day.
