Good luck message from Education Convener to pupils starting their exams

Councillor Paul Godzik said: “I want to wish everyone sitting their Standard Grades and Highers all the very best. We want our pupils to reach their full potential. Achieving good results can give them plenty of options for the future education decisions.

“Pupils and teachers have put in a tremendous amount of hard work preparing for these exams as have the parents who will have been encouraging them to do their best.

“Last year Edinburgh achieved some great results and I am sure this success will continue.”

Last year’s results:

Highest percentages of S4 pupils attaining English at SCQF level 3* or better by the end of S4 (2012 97%; 2008 94%)

Highest percentages of S4 pupils attaining Mathematics at SCQF level 3* or better by the end of S4 (2012 97%; 2008 94%)

Highest percentages of S4 pupils attaining English and Mathematics at SCQF level 3* or better by the end of S4  (2012 95%; 2008 92%)

Highest percentages of S4 pupils attaining 5 or more awards at SCQF level 3* or better by the end of S4 (2012 93%; 2008 89%)

Highest percentages of S4 pupils attaining 5 or more awards at SCQF level 4** or better by the end of S4 (2012 80%; 2008 76%)

SCQF level 3=  Standard Grade Foundation /Access 3*

SCQF Level 4=  Standard Grade General /Intermediate 1**
