Council scoops European Structural and Social Fund Awards

The City of Edinburgh Council won two prestigious awards at the Scottish Government’s European Structural Funds (ESF) Annual Awards Ceremony yesterday (14 May).

The ESF supports projects across Scotland that tackle challenges including youth employment and long-term unemployment, as well as supporting access to learning.

The two awards received recognised the work of the Council-led Strategic Skills Pipeline, a joined up employability programme launched in 2011 that aims to bring priority target groups into the labour market.

City of Edinburgh Council’s Economy Convener Cllr Frank Ross said: “I am delighted that the Council’s work on strategic skills has been recognised in this way, at a time when boosting employability through training is so crucial to the livelihoods of many people across Edinburgh and beyond. I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this award-winning partnership programme.”
