Check out the new facilities in Roseburn Park

The rain failed to dampen spirits when chess and table tennis enthusiasts welcomed new public facilities to Roseburn Park.

An all-weather chess board and table tennis table have been installed in the park thanks to a cash boost from the Big Lottery Fund and the City of Edinburgh Council's West Neighbourhood Parks team.

Community group the Friends of Roseburn Park successfully bid for £10,000 to pay for the renovations, which included a new ornamental flower bed. The Lottery Fund and the Council provided £5,000 each.

Councillor Frank Ross represented the West Neighbourhood Partnership at the event, which was also attended by members of Murrayfield Table Tennis Club and pupils from Roseburn Primary School.

Councillor Ross said: "The Friends of Roseburn Park work hard to improve this greenspace in their community, and their latest efforts are fantastic.

"It is part of the Council's commitment to provide quality parks and to ensure that they are safe, clean and accessible for all."
