Ice warning for Pentlands

The Pentlands ranger service has published a warning on its website, advising walkers to take care near ice, following an incident this morning.

Cllr Robert Aldridge said: "People should never venture out on to a frozen pond or reservoir. The ice can vary in its thickness and there's a real danger of falling through. People should also take particular care with children or dogs."

More information and advice on ice safety is available from the Royal Lifesaving Society (opens a Word document).

And, whatever the weather, there's always lots to explore in the Pentland Hills regional park.
