Deadline approaches for waste action grant applications
Communities across Edinburgh are being urged to submit their applications to the City of Edinburgh Council for a Waste Action Grant as the deadline fast approaches.
Both small and large grants are available to fund eco-friendly projects that will encourage more people in the Capital to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Environmentally conscious householders, community groups, youth groups and schools are all being urged to submit an application for funding by Monday 06 February.
A range of funding is available, from smaller grants of £50-£200 to larger grants of £500 - £2500.
Councillor Robert Aldridge, Environment Leader, said: "We have had great success with previous projects that have made a real difference in their communities, helping this Council towards our goal of recycling 50% of domestic waste by 2015."
"Edinburgh residents have a key role to play in ensuring we preserve our environment for future generations. Disposing of our waste responsibly is an important part of that and so I would encourage local groups to make an application for the next round of grants."
The Waste Action Grant Programme was launched in April 2005 and has helped to support waste related community initiatives across Edinburgh that inspire residents to find innovative ways to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste.
