Cllr Frank Ross, Convener of the Economy Committee, comments on Edinburgh being ranked second in the UK for quality of life by MoneySuperMarket. The ranking was out of the 12 largest UK cities.

Cllr Frank Ross, Convener of the Economy Committee, said: "I am not surprised at all at this ranking. Edinburgh is the most prosperous UK city outside London, according to the Office for National Statistics. In 2012, Edinburgh was also ranked as the best large European City for foreign direct investment according to fDi’s European Cities and Regions of the Future awards.

“People are attracted to work, live, visit and invest in Edinburgh as the city is a world class brand and tourist destination steeped in history with a great atmosphere which hosts numerous world-renowned cultural events. The high quality of life in the capital is reflected  in the city also coming  top of the UK’s ten largest cities for wellbeing.

“You only have to walk around the city and take in the rich culture and heritage to understand why as well as having happy residents, Edinburgh is a multi-award winning city, attracting millions of visitors each year.”
