Edinburgh Award nominations need YOU!

Edinburgh dwellers are being urged to make their vote count as the search continues for the successor to Ian Rankin, JK Rowling, Sir Chris Hoy and George Kerr CBE.

Nominations for the 2011 Edinburgh Award were launched on 9 November and must be submitted by Friday 2 December

The Award is all about celebrating someone who has done Edinburgh proud on the local, national and even international stage through their accomplishments and endeavours. As a permanent tribute, the win...ners' handprints are engraved in Caithness stone and placed on public display in the quadrangle in front of the City Chambers.

It's never been easier to nominate - you can now do it online.

Lord Provost George Grubb said: "The Edinburgh Award enables the people of Edinburgh to pay a lasting tribute to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the city through their work or achievements in recent years. We already have a fantastic four in Ian Rankin, JK Rowling, Sir Chris Hoy and George Kerr - whoever joins them will become the fifth member of a very prestigious club indeed."
