Lord Provost welcomes Queen to Edinburgh for Royal Week

Edinburgh’s Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant Frank Ross has welcomed Her Majesty the Queen to Edinburgh for Scottish Royal Week 2017.

At the Ceremony of the Keys this evening (Monday 3 July), the Queen was welcomed to her ‘ancient and hereditary kingdom of Scotland’ and presented with the keys to the city by Lord Lieutenant Frank Ross.

Royal Week will continue with a series of Royal engagements in Scotland, including the Queen’s annual Garden Party in the Grounds of the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the presentation of Investitures to Scots on Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours list.

Commenting, Lord Lieutenant Frank Ross, said: “As the city’s new Lord Provost, it is my civic duty to welcome and represent the Royal Family in Edinburgh. It has been an honour to present Her Majesty with the keys to the city, and I am looking forward to supporting the Queen on behalf of the city throughout Royal Week.”
