Christmas curated for you at city museums and galleries

Shopping trail offers unique and hand-crafted gift-buying this Christmas.

Edinburgh’s museums and galleries are set to take the stress out of the festive rush with a weekend-long shopping experience.

Curated Christmas encourages shoppers to follow a ‘cultural trail’ around the city centre, where they will have the opportunity to meet expert staff, indulge in gallery café specialties and find the perfect gift for a friend or loved one.

The City of Edinburgh Council has partnered with Scottish National Galleries, The Fruitmarket Gallery, Dovecot Studios and Edinburgh Printmakers to stage a series of events and offers at nine venues over the last weekend in November.

Amongst festivities Santa Claus will pay be paying a visit to the City Art Centre and Museum of Childhood between 12pm and 5pm on Saturday, while children can learn to make Christmas tree decorations as parents browse the City Art Centre shop on Saturday and Sunday.

The Museum of Edinburgh and Writers’ Museum will also host free events coinciding with Previously… Scotland's History Festival and St Andrews Day.

Museums and galleries taking part in Curated Christmas will be: City Art Centre, Museum of Edinburgh, Museum of Childhood, Writers’ Museum, Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh Printmakers, The Fruitmarket Gallery, Scottish National Gallery and Scottish Portrait Gallery.

Curated Christmas will take place on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December. More information can be found on the Edinburgh Museums and Galleries website.
