City Transport Leader welcomes opening of new Edinburgh Gateway Interchange

The City of Edinburgh Council's Transport Convener Councillor Lesley Hinds today welcomed the opening of a major new tram and rail interchange for the city.

The Edinburgh Gateway, which will become operational on Sunday (11 December), integrates the Edinburgh Trams with ScotRail services.

Located between Edinburgh Trams' Gyle Centre and Gogarburn tram stops, the Edinburgh Gateway comprises a booking office, lifts, escalators, waiting rooms, toilets, journey planning information and electronic ticket machines, helping passengers transfer seamlessly from rail to tram and vice versa.

Cllr Hinds said: "Our continued investment in developing a truly integrated public transport network for the Capital has greatly improved choice for passengers and it’s encouraging to see how many people choose public transport to make their journey to and from Edinburgh Airport.

"The new Edinburgh Gateway provides a further vital link between the rail network and Edinburgh Trams, connecting thousands and thousands more passengers from outwith Edinburgh with the Airport and the city centre and offering increased choice for travellers.”
