Shop locally this Saturday

Councillor Frank Ross, Convener of the Economy Committee, is encouraging people to support local shops and businesses tomorrow, Small Business Saturday.

Cllr Frank Ross, Convener of the Economy Committee, said: “I would encourage everyone to support their local shops and other businesses on Saturday. Vibrant town centres are crucial to the success of Edinburgh’s economy. Vacancy rates in our town centres at the moment are well below the national average and we need to keep them down. Around 200,000 people live within an 800 metre catchment of our town centres and over 25,000 people are employed within their immediate area and that is why are committed to continuing with our Building Stronger Town Centres programme.”

Stencils have also been drawn on to pavements in several of our town centres to encourage people to shop locally.
