A new survey by the Edinburgh Bike Station reveals a 26% rise in use of the city's cycle path network. Councillor Gordon Mackenzie today welcomed the figures as a "timely reminder" of the value of investing in sustainable transport.
The annual survey counted the number of cyclists at key locations in Edinburgh during the morning commute (7.30-9.15am).
Commenting on the results, Cllr Mackenzie said: "This is excellent news. It demonstrates that a strong commitment to promoting sustainable transport in Edinburgh works. Looking ahead there are concerns over cuts to Scottish Government funding for cycling and walking but these impressive new figures should be a timely reminder that sustained investment in this area brings results."
