Growing success as nursery kids scoop top prize

Kids from the Chapter One Nursery in Gilmerton were at Waverley Court this morning sampling their own soup recipe after winning the City of Edinburgh Council's Grow for Victory competition.

Chapter One Nursery pupils entered into the 'Most original recipe using produce from your school garden' category and saw off other entrants to scoop the top prize.

Grow for victory dp 220x150The winning 'Vegetable Soup' recipe was served today at the canteen in Waverley Court. The school also received £100 of gardening vouchers to spend at the Inch nursery.

The Council, in conjunction with Eco-Schools and the Federation of Edinburgh District Allotments and Gardens Association (FEDAGA), held the competition to encourage children to grow their own produce in their school gardens and at home.
