Forth Bridge given World Heritage Site status

UNESCO today (Sunday 5 July) announced that the Forth Bridge has been awarded World Heritage Site status. It becomes Scotland’s sixth site and Edinburgh is the only area of the country with two sites.

Mending the Meadows Jawbone Arch

After months of storage to allow the set of whale bones to dry out, conservators are pleased with the progress that has been made to the mending of the bones. It is hoped the monument will return to its spot in the Meadows later this year.
