Environment Policies - sustainable development

Sustainable development means meeting our needs now without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It means not using up resources faster than the planet can replenish, or re-stock them. The City of Edinburgh Council is committed to integrating sustainable development into all its policies and practices. By working in partnership with other organisations, local communities and all sectors in Edinburgh, the Council aims to increase awareness and participation in sustaining our environment and improving links with social and economic sustainability.
