Facilities Available to our Customers


Communication

If you've special needs we've a range of facilities at our disposal that can make communication easier, including:

Language Line This service provides confidential, accurate, impartial interpreting, in over 100 languages. A connection is guaranteed within 90 seconds.
Interpretation & Translation Service Building Design Services has access to this facility, which provides interpretation and translation services for Braille, large print and community languages.
Induction Loops Whenever you come to Building Design Services premises an Induction Loop will be active. The Induction Loop increases the volume of speech whilst eliminating background noise. This facility will be available at all Building Design Services open days and meetings.
BT Typetalk Typetalk enables deaf and blind people to contact BDS without needing any other help. All BDS Customer Advisers know how to use this facility.

Face to face contact

We can:

Provide private rooms for consultation.
Provide upon request transport to and from open days.
Provide information in community languages, Braille and large print if required.
Liaise with other Council departments such as Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, or family, friends, or neighbours to help out the communication process.
