Lothian NHS Board

Lorna Hall is the Senior Health Promotion Specialist for Lothian NHS Board. He deals with older people's issues across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Contact Matt for queries on the following:

The Voluntary Sector in Edinburgh

The voluntary sector in Edinburgh provides a wide variety of services for older people. The Forum on Services for Older People brings together voluntary organisations that provide social care and other services. This Forum sends representatives to the Strategic Development Group for Older People's Services and the strategic development group for People with Dementia which deals with the strategy and planning of services throughout the city. Forum representatives can provide information on:-

  • services for older people, people with dementia and carers provided by the voluntary sector
  • involving older people in consultation and service planning.

Equalities Forum for Older People

Julie Houston Policy Officer (Equalities) who has the lead responsibility for older people's equality issues in the City of Edinburgh Council's Equalities Unit. Amongst other things, Julie is responsible for supporting the Equalities Forum for Older People and the Today and Tomorrow Task Group for ethnic elders.

The Older People's Equality Forum is one of five groups set up by the Council to give a voice to individuals from equalities groups in Edinburgh and involve them in helping the Council to standardise it's services. The other Equalities fora are for: Race Issues, Women's Issues, Disability Issues and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues.
