THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL
SOUTH EAST EDINBURGH LOCAL PLAN

The South East Edinburgh Local Plan Written Statement and the accompanying Proposals Map were adopted by the City of Edinburgh Council on the 18th August 2005. This Local Plan replaces the previous South East Edinburgh Local Plan adopted by the City of Edinburgh District Council on the 8th December 1992.

The new local plan is required especially to carry forward proposals for the South East Wedge. This is part of the Edinburgh Green Belt, extending into Midlothian as far as the City Bypass. The City of Edinburgh and Midlothian Councils have jointly prepared proposals for new housing and economic development in their respective parts of the South East Wedge. The proposals affecting Midlothian Council’s part of the South East Wedge are set out in its Shawfair Local Plan.

Certified copies of the South East Edinburgh Local Plan are available for inspection at the City Development Reception, 1 Cockburn Street and public libraries in the local plan area.
