RURAL WEST EDINBURGH LOCAL PLAN

INQUIRY 2004/5

Local Plan Background

Inquiry Links

The Rural West Edinburgh Local Plan brings together the Council’s planning policies and proposals for the development and use of land in the Rural West Edinburgh area, including environmental conservation and traffic management measures into one integrated document. This plan when adopted will replace three local plans currently in force: Queensferry (adopted 1986), Ratho, Newbridge and Kirkliston (adopted 1985) and Currie-Balerno (adopted 1987). The Plan has been prepared to conform to the Finalised Edinburgh and Lothians Structure Plan 2015 which was approved by the Scottish Ministers on 17/6/04.

The Plan was placed on deposit for a statutory six week period from Friday 15 August to Friday 26 September 2003. A total of 494 representations were submitted of which 432 were considered to be formal objections. A report setting out the content of individual objections and recommending appropriate responses to them was approved by Planning Committee on 5 February 2004. View the list of the objections and the Council’s draft responses. In response to these objections a number of modifications to the plan were drafted and were approved by the Planning Committee and placed on deposit on 11 June. View the committee report and/or the modifications. A number of objections to the modifications may well be submitted and these will be considered at the public inquiry as well. View these objections.

A number of objections to the plan have already been withdrawn, however, the remainder will be considered at a local plan inquiry which will commence on 29 November 2004.
