Submitting Applications Online

The City of Edinburgh Council now provides a number of Planning and Building Standards services online through its Planning and Building Standards Portal.

Through the Portal you can now submit, view, and follow the progress of planning and building warrant applications.

Site Registration

To submit an application you first need to register with the Council. The document below offers a step-by-step guide through the registration process. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes.

Making Planning Applications

The Portal uses ‘wizards’, a programme that asks a step-by-step series of questions tailored by the responses you give, to help you complete application forms, submit drawings and pay the appropriate fee. The document below offers guidance on this process.

Please note that when you submit a planning application, the information will appear on the Planning Register and the completed forms and any associated documentation will also be published on the Council's website.

Making Building Warrant Applications - This service is not currently available.
