SUSPENSIONS

What is a suspension?

A suspension is a temporary order suspending parking or short-term loading regulations
in a residents’, disabled, diplomatic, loading, pay and display bay, bridal or doctors’ bay.

 

Suspensions are usually for:

·        building works

·        furniture removals

·        funerals

·        filming

·        work in or near parking bays

 

When do I need a suspension?

You need a suspension when you are working near a parking bay for a prolonged time
and the use of the bay is essential to completing your task.

What information do I need to apply for a suspension?

The application form will ask you for:

1                    times and dates of the suspension

2                    reason for the suspension

3                    the exact location of the bays to be suspended

4                    full company details with a contact name and phone number

5                    vehicle registration numbers of all vehicles which will use the suspension

6                    agreement to pay charges

 

How far in advance do I have to apply for a suspension?

Usually, three working days, but there are exceptions for emergency suspensions for
gas leaks, etc.

 

Is there a charge for suspensions?

Yes, in most cases. Only public utility companies are not charged.

 

Why are parking areas sometimes temporarily suspended?

Parking spaces and other areas may be temporarily suspended for a number of reasons,
including road construction or special events such as parades, concerts or sporting events.

 

DISPENSATIONS

What is a dispensation?

A dispensation allows a motorist to wait, load or unload on a stretch of a single yellow line
for over the permitted 30 minutes.

 

Dispensations are usually for:

·        deliveries of heavy goods

·        furniture removals

·        vehicles using heavy equipment, such as generators

 

When do I need a dispensation?

You need a dispensation if you will be parked on a single yellow line for more than 30 minutes,
or will be away from your vehicle for more than five minutes while loading or unloading.

 

How do I apply for a dispensation?

edinburghdispensations@centralparkingsystem.com You should apply 24 hours before the
dispensation is needed.

 

Is there a charge for dispensations?

No, there is no charge.
